Apprenticeship fees halved to 5% for SME’s

News & Events

Phillip Hammond revealed in last week’s budget that SME’s will only have to contribute 5% towards the training from April 2019, this is a 5% saving on what they have to contribute now. The chancellor announced:

“As well as backing businesses to invest and grow, we will make sure British workers are equipped with the skills they need to thrive and prosper”

The new change to 5% is expected to only apply to new starters

Currently 16-18 year-old apprentices at employers with less than 50 staff are fully funded and therefore free to train.

This is good news for all our SME’s and should allow us to work with a lot more, smaller businesses who want the opportunity to offer apprenticeships to young people in our local communities.
