Scope of contact:

  • Internal – Apprenticeship Manager and Internal Quality Assurance Manager, Assessment Team, Employer /Learner Engagement Team, Academy team, Administration Team
  • External – Employers and Awarding Bodies

Role Summary

The role of the Learning coach is to manage a caseload of learners providing appropriate support, assessing and training based on their individual needs. To achieve performance targets, both in the Centre and in the workplace.

To deliver apprenticeship standards and frameworks together for Business Administration, Customer Service and Management as required by the framework, whilst also supporting learners with literacy, numeracy and IT.

Key Responsibilities

1. To achieve Performance Targets

  • Achieve overall and timely success rates to meet business targets
  • Prepare for performance monitoring, presenting relevant data and evidence of own performance
  • Carry out timely Learner/Employer reviews as required contractually
  • Deliver a high standard of teaching, learning and assessment to OFSTED standard “good” to “outstanding”

2. Managing a Positive Learner Journey

  • Produce an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) based on individual needs identified from initial assessment, which is agreed with and understood by the learner and employer

  • Set SMART targets with the learner for the achievement of qualifications and standards

  • Carry out assessments in line with company and awarding body requirements

  • Embrace and encourage the use of technology to support learning.

  • Use appropriate and innovative technology and e-assessment methods to deliver training and assess learner’s competence

  • To complete all relevant records to comply with Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes

3. Quality

  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the Company’s quality improvement processes to improve provision and other Company processes
  • Ensure that the Company is compliant and all audits meet business needs

4. Engage with employers

  • Ensure that employers are engaged within the learning programme
  • Maximise training opportunities with employers
  • Identify potential recruits in company to maintain and maximise caseload and make commercial work referrals

5. Team working

  • Attend regular meetings and contribute to projects related to the job role on a company wide basis
  • To assist with duties within the scope and nature of the position
  • To work as a team to manage team targets

6. Personal Development

  • To undergo training and development in line with the needs of the business,
  • Including standardisation activities
  • To ensure appropriate qualifications are maintained or achieved within relevant time frames
  • To maintain occupational competence and maintain CPD

Person Specification

Minimum Requirements:


  • GCSE A-C Maths and English
  • A1 Award / equivalent
  • Sound occupational competence
  • Good IT Skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering Apprenticeship Standards and Frameworks
  • Clean driving licence and car user
  • Have right to live and work in the UK indefinitely and without restriction


  • Key Skills qualification(s)
  • Teaching qualification

  • To be professional, co-operative and flexible to meet organisational needs, undertaking such duties as may reasonably be expected
