Completing the IAG Qualification

News & Events

Since starting work at GFT almost 4 and a half years ago, Karen has experienced a variety of roles in the company. In December 2018, Karen had the opportunity to complete her Level 4 Information, Advice and Guidance Qualification to ensure she was able to deliver the highest quality IAG within her role.

We recently caught up with Karen to get an insider view on her experience of completing the qualification, how it has benefitted her at work and whether she recommends the qualification to others.

I have been employed at GFT for 4 and a half years now and have worked in many departments where IAG has been the main focus with the students. I really wanted to ensure that the students were getting the best impartial advice, and so I decided to complete the CEIAG Level 4 qualification at GFT. I am now the Lead Careers Advisor and deliver 1 to 1 Information, Advice and Guidance interviews to students in schools across Birmingham.

I could not deliver these interviews without this qualification which has been vital for me to develop my role. l really enjoyed completing the qualification and would advise anyone who works alongside secondary school age students to do the same. It is always nice to have the experience and knowledge to help these young people decide their next steps.Karen Barlow, Schools Liaison/Careers Advisor
