Report to: Apprenticeship Manager

Department: Apprenticeship Team

Scope of contact: Internal – Apprenticeship Manager, Lead Internal Quality Assurance Co-ordinator, Assessment Team, Employer /Learner Engagement Team, Study Programme Team, Administration Team. External – Employers, Awarding Bodies

Role Summary:

The role of the Vocational Assessor/Tutor is to manage a caseload of learners providing appropriate information, advice and guidance, learning support, assessment and training based on their individual needs. To achieve performance targets, both in the Centre and in the workplace.

To deliver apprenticeship standards and functional skills together with any other qualifications as required by the framework, and to support learners with literacy, numeracy and IT learning

Key Responsibilities:
  1. To achieve Performance Targets
  • Achieve overall and timely success rates to meet business targets
  • Prepare for performance monitoring, presenting relevant data and evidence of own performance
  • Carry out timely Learner/Employer reviews as required contractually
  1. Managing a Positive Learner Journey
  • Produce an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) based on individual needs identified from initial assessment, which is agreed with and understood by the learner
  • Set SMARTER targets with the learner for the achievement of training and qualifications
  • Carry out assessments in line with company and awarding body requirements
  • Embrace and encourage the use of technology to support learning.
  • Use appropriate and innovative technology and e-assessment methods to assess learner’s competence
  • To complete all relevant records to comply with Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes
  • To provide effective information, advice and guidance to both learners and employers.
  1. Quality
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the Company’s quality improvement processes to improve provision and other Company processes
  • Ensure that the Company is compliant, and all audits meet business needs
  1. Engage with employers
  • Ensure that employers are engaged within the learning programme
  • Support employers to identify training opportunities for the learner
  • Provide quality information, advice and guidance to employers on how training can benefit their organisation
  • Identify potential recruits in company to maintain and maximise caseload and make commercial work referrals
  1. Team working
  • Attend regular meetings and contribute to projects related to the job role on a company wide basis
  • To assist with duties within the scope and nature of the position
  • To work as a team to manage team targets
  1. Personal Development
  • To undergo training and development in line with the needs of the business, including standardisation activities
  • To ensure appropriate qualifications are maintained or achieved within relevant time frames
  • To maintain occupational competence and maintain CPD
Person Specification:

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • GSCE A-C Maths and English
  • A1 Award / equivalent
  • Managerial occupational competence in awards delivering
  • Good IT Skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of QCF Apprenticeship Frameworks and new Standards
  • Car user
  • Have right to live and work in the UK indefinitely and without restriction

Desirable:

  • Key Skills / Functional Skills Level 2 qualification(s)
  • Teaching qualification
  • Information, advice and guidance qualification
Other Requirements:
  • DBS check
  • To be professional, co-operative and flexible to meet organisational needs, undertaking such duties as may reasonably be expected
  • Share the Company’s commitment to the safeguarding of its learners
