Here at Gordon Franks Training, we provide a full recruitment service to fill your vacancy with the perfect candidate that matches your role and working environment. Our team aim to connect an employer with their Apprentice within month, our goal is to do this in two weeks.


Our Recruitment Team aim to make the process of employing an apprentice as simple and as stress-free as possible. With experience of working closely with employers for over 30 years, we have dedicated our efforts towards developing a smooth and effective process of Recruitment. Ensuring that every employer is matched to an apprentice that connects with their business requirements.

Meet the team

Alex Redican – Recruitment Manager

Alex joined the team as an apprentice in August 2015 and has done a variety of recruitment roles at GFT in his time here. Alex loves hitting targets and will not stop working until his targets have been met or exceeded. In his spare time Alex lives an exciting life; he likes to sit at home watching documentaries, playing video games and talking to his cat.

Shakera Rahman – Deputy Recruitment Co-Ordinator

Shakera started with us as a Business Apprentice and is now a Deputy Recruitment Co-ordinator, managing the recruitment of candidates onto our programmes, training new apprentices in the team and developing strategies on how to improve our recruitment services. She has been working with us for over 12 years with expertise in the services we offer to candidates, employers and parents.  She has experienced varied roles during her time with us, including Coaching, Mentoring, Tutoring, Advice & Guidance. She thrives on candidates achieving their goals and becoming successful, with us being a part of that journey.

Her interests are fashion, yoga, movies and nature documentaries (particularly anything by David Attenborough).

Umera Asif –  Business Development Officer

Umera started working with us in November 2018. She has completed her Business Administration Level 2 and is now completing her Business Administration Level 3 qualification. She is working as a Business Development Officer and loves giving young people the opportunity to work. Umera is a motivated, dynamic and bubbly character. Her hobbies include fashion, film theory and travelling.

Joanita Manka –  Business Development

Joanita started working with us in September 2018. She graduated in Culinary Arts Management and is now currently doing her Business Administration Level 3 Qualification. She is passionate about succeeding in life and always putting 100% into what she does.

She loves staying home and cooking for family and friends, and is very passionate about cats.

Georgia Fielding – Digital Marketing Officer

Georgia joined GFT in March 2017 with the aim to develop a new digital strategy for the company. Since then, she has boosted the GFT social media channels and created us a brand new website that opens up more digital opportunities for the company.

Georgia is currently in her last year of study for a degree in Digital Marketing at Birmingham City University, and enjoys playing football in her spare time.

Chris Steeley – Admin Assistant

Chris joined GFT in February 2018 as a Recruitment Administrator, Chris is easy going, friendly and has a great eye for detail.

Chris is a keen gamer and sports fan, enjoys watching Birmingham City FC (When they don’t lose of course). He is pretty good at FIFA (not to brag!) and will offer any lessons out if anyone needs them.

Lynsey Stephens – Placement Liaison Officer
